DuckDog Acea Does Da DockDog Deal!

While working the crowds at this Spring's OKC Hunting and Fishing Show I entered Acea in the DuckDog Competition that was there as an attraction. This is a quick report with some pics and an entry in the Short Video Clips of his efforts.

Eric Has Decided To Train SOSA Himself! FLASH Sosa IS NOW A GUN DOG!

It don't seem like it's been four months since I ran onto Eric and Sosa! One thing is for sure I initially thought that Eric would be like a lot of guys who said that they wanted to TRAIN THIER OWN DOG! Lots of them say it but few of them see it through. Thing is , Eric HAS put in the TIME and the WORK to make this happen. Eric and Sosa are through with Sosa's PUPPY TRAINING and is graduating to her FORMAL OB, FORCE TO HOLD, FORCE TO FETCH and FORCE TO WATER! Force'n Ruby To A PILE! 3rd. Step In The FF Progression!

A bit over a week ago we ALMOST had Ruby to the Ground and ready to Froce To A Pile. BUT, we made a mistake at a critical juncture and decided to return her to the FF Table and re enforce the Force To The Fetch Command a bit more. That worked to fill in the HOLE that was present in the Training and today it was time to bring her down to the Ground and see what we had.

Force To The HOLD COMMAND is the first step in FF'n a Pup and Ruby is at the point where she is READY. Each pup is different and the only thing I can tell ya is THE PUP WILL TELL YOU WHEN IT IS READY! Force To Hold will be follwed by a new section dedicated to Force'n Ruby To The FETCH COMMAND! Train my own dog or take him to a Pro? This is what is usually comes down to in get'n you Pup Trained to PICK UP DEM DUCKS YOU MAKE DEAD! If you decide to Train Your Own Pup make sure you got TIME and a bit of MONEY! IF, you decide to take him to a Pro then all you need is MONEY! Either way there are no gurantees but there are ways to put the Odds of Success IN YOUR FAVOR! This Topic deals with Pro Retriever Trainers that are PROVEN. The basic reason I chose to do this is that it seems that a LOT of folks have simply hung out a shingle and started Training Gun Dogs and due to this fact it's EASY to get SCREWED! Hope this helps.

Hooter And Bit: Path To Mak'n A Gun Dog

Hooter's path in acquiring a nice Gun Dog has been one fraught with bumps and bruises as Hooter has certainly taken his LUMPS along the way. But, with Bit they both MADE IT! One of the most often asked questions reference training a Puppy is , " AT WHAT AGE AND HOW DO I GET THE PUPPY " BIRDY ". While there are many ways of doing this here is how one Old School Retriever Trainer get's his 7 week old Pup " BIRDY"! OrthoKid Is Train'n Colby Himself!

While The OrthoKid has been whack'n Ducks for a few years and his hooked HARD! He only recently got situated at a point with his School Work that would allow him to fulfill a DREAM. That dream was to locate and train his own Duck Dog. Enter COLBY! After a lot of hard look'n Ortho located Colby up in the Enid area. The Pedigree is a good one with him being Sired by an FC/AFC dog out of Tejas, Texas Rex. Ortho will keep a running Diary , Blog or whatever you call these things detailing his efforts to teach Colby how this thing works. GOOD LUCK GUYS!

RentAKid And Cash!

RentAKid like a lot of young men has longed for his very own Gun Dog! He has had some experience with an earlier dog and when dat pup passed on and RentAKid graduated from college he KNEW it was TIME. Time to take the plunge and acquire his own Gun Dog. Zac Has Decided To TRAIN SOUTHERN HIMSELF! FLASH -Southern Is Now A Gun Dog!

It has been four months get'n Zac and Southern through PUPPY TRAINING! It has been to say the least a pleasure help'n a young man TRAIN HIS OWN GUN DOG! This being Zac's first Gun Dog made it all the more enjoyable. Zac promised that he REALLY WANTED TO DO THIS and he has KEPT HIS WORD. My part is now pretty much done and Zac and Southern have both been passed onto the guy who will teach the FORMAL OBEDIENCE , FORCE TO HOLD , FORCE TO FETCH , FORCE TO PILE and FORCE TO WATER aspects of this. The graduation from Puppy Training is like moving from High School ball to D-1 ball. Heck , it may even approach Marine Boot Camp! Whichever, Southern's LIFE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE!
